Lima. Peruvian archaeologists claim to have discovered a mummy over 1,000 years old on the outskirts of the capital Lima . Some pieces of porcelain, rope and hair have also been found with the mummy. This mummy dates back to the Inca period or the Inca civilization. The mummy was probably a teenager, wrapped in a shroud-like cloth, found in an underground tomb. Archaeologist Yomira Huaman said the mummified teen was found in extremely well-preserved condition. Peru was once home to various pre-Hispanic cultures that flourished before the Inca Empire came to power. The mummy lived between 1100 and 1200 years ago and may have belonged to the Lima or Echma cultures.
